Did you know that at any given time at any moment in
your life you are been sent EMR’s? Sorry to say they are not some magical
powers from above; no, they are electromagnetic waves. If you are sitting in front
of your computer screen, talking on you cell phone, using your microwave, using
your blender or toaster, pretty much everything we do every single day produces
EMR’s. The vibration of an electric charge creates
electromagnetic waves.
When you listen to
the radio, watch TV, or cook dinner in a microwave oven, you are using
electromagnetic waves. Radio waves, television waves, and microwaves are all
types of electromagnetic waves. The electromagnetic spectrum describes a wide range of
different electromagnetic waves. Also, called EM waves, these are a special
type of wave that can travel without a medium. Unlike sound waves and water
waves, electromagnetic waves don't need a fluid, or a solid, or even air to
help them travel from one place to another. EM waves can travel across the
great vacuum of space, which is why we see light from distant stars and
planets. How fabulous is that?
The bottom line is, we are subject to natural
radiation all day long, whether we’re indoors or outdoors. We are exposed to background radiation like terrestrial radiation,
cosmic radiation, or Radon, a radioactive gas found predominantly in areas with
natural occurrences of Radium. And then there is the sun, our most important
natural source of radiation, i.e. sunlight. We are used to it, most of it is
harmless, we even depend on it. What we must be wary of is extensive exposure
to radiation, whether it’s natural or artificial.
What I have been getting down to is for most people,
it is impossible to go even a day without coming into contact with a radio, a
microwave, a cell phone, or a laptop computer. Most people rely on these
technological tools for work, communicating with friends and family, school,
and personal enjoyment. What most people don’t seem to realize, however, is
that all of these electronic devices are known to emit waves of Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR). Even
people who are aware of this fact often ignore it, but once you know all of the
adverse effects this type of radiation can have on your health, you simply
can’t ignore it anymore.
A lot of people will try to convince you that the
negative health effects of Electromagnetic Radiation are simply a hoax or
a fairy tale thought up by extremely paranoid people. Unfortunately,
research is overwhelmingly proving that this is not the case at all. The more
research that is done on the matter, the more solid evidence we see that
Electromagnetic Radiation emitted from laptop computers, cell phones, and
other high-tech devices can be very harmful. Many studies have revealed a link
between the use of these types of technological devices and various forms of
illness, including tumors and infertility. The evidence is simply too prevalent
to deny.
The good news is that
you can protect yourself from Electromagnetic Radiation. First, try to limit direct contact with
electronics whenever possible; if you can take a break from them, you should do
so. You should shut off as many electronic devices as you can at night (not
just put them into sleep or hibernate mode), such as your laptop, your tablet,
your phone, and any other wireless transmitting/emitting device. Don’t forget
to unplug your wireless router. If you have all your electronics off but still
have your wireless router on, you can still experience the negative effects of Electromagnetic
Radiation.
Second, be aware of sources of Electromagnetic Radiation in your
environment. Try heading to a coffee shop that doesn’t have a Wi-Fi
signal. Talk to your Internet provider about using Ethernet cords to connect
laptops to the Internet instead of using a Wi-Fi wireless router. Limit cell
phone conversations to decrease how often you have your cell phone within close
proximity to you. Know that you likely won’t be able to get completely away
from Electromagnetic Radiation, but the less exposure you have to it the
better.
Well my goodness, glad I got that out there in the open – think it is
time for a glass of wine!!
Look after yourself; once a mom, always a mom.
