The new year is well under way, and wedding season is about to begin. What will fashionable brides be wearing this year? These are some of the looks to recently hit the runways at the latest bridal fashion shows.

Deep Necklines
In 2017, expect to see a lot of plunging necklines. Some of them are so low, they go almost to the waist.

Lace cut-out necklines are popular, as well as deep plunges with a layer of sheer fabric or mesh filling in the space. This look might require some tape to prevent wedding wardrobe malfunctions.

Shoulder Wraps
While many wedding gowns are still strapless, there are other options for today's brides. Sleeves and jackets are great ways to add pretty details and cover up any arm issue. This year, you'll also see old-fashioned shoulder wraps.

These can be in a light, flowing fabric or made of lace. Also, look for fur or faux-fur wraps for weddings in colder weather.

Colours
White will always be the most common choice in bridal wear, but you will see colour popping up this year. Look for colour on the dress itself, especially hombre patterns on the skirt in pink or blue. You'll also see gowns in light lavender and in gold tones.

Off the Shoulder
Strapless gowns have dominated the bridal world for the past 15 years, but other options are slowly emerging. One great choice is a gown that falls off the shoulders. This kind of dress can be understated, with silky straps hanging down from the shoulder, or with layers of fabric or puffy tulle for a more dramatic look.

Oversized Bows
Bows are back, and you can find them almost anywhere on modern gowns. Trendy brides will be sporting bows in the back or on the bodice. Some fit-and-flare styles have bows on the back of the dress where the fabric flares out and creates a skirt. One pretty look is a bow of soft fabric at the side of the waist.

Long, Lacy Sleeves
Many of today's brides want sleeves, and some of them are going for the romantic look of lace all the way down the arms. Some dresses have a strap that wraps around the fingers, allowing the sleeve to keep going up the back of the hand.

The sleeves can be can be the only lace pieces on the whole dress, or they can be combined with a lace overlay on the rest of the gown.

High Necks with Lace
Classic lace also stands out this year in high necklines. Usually, part of the bodice will feature just the lace, while the rest will be lined with satin or other fabric. High-neck styles can complement long sleeves or can be a halter fit with no sleeves at all.

Tiered Tulle
Full skirts in 2017 will be lighter than in previous years. Rather than the satin ballgown with embroidered details, skirts are being crafted from layers of tulle.

In some dresses, the layers fall in a pattern, with one layer peeking out beneath the next. In other dresses, each layer is gathered up into a balloon style with layers repeating all the way to the floor.

Pants with a Train
Jumpsuits and pants are great options for brides who are uncomfortable wearing skirts. This year, the trend is to make pants more feminine by adding an overskirt in the back. Sometimes the skirts are removable, and many of them flow into long trains that float behind the bride.

These nine wedding gown trends will set the stage for brides in 2017. If you're getting married this year, consider trying on a trendy gown that suits your unique style.
