What Is Love??

When I was approached to write this month article on love, I’m not going to lie: I panicked a bit! There are so many ways to approach this subject and love means so many different things to so many different people in so many different parts of the world and man - this is one BIG WORLD! 

In a world that surrounds us every minute of every day with a continuous bombardment of information and social updates that tell us how to feel, where do we stand when it comes to LOVE??

Is it how we feel about our partner? Is it how we feel about our children, siblings, parents, grandparents and other members of our family? Is it the feeling when you arrive home and your pet is waiting there for you as if you were the only person in the world and you feel unconditional love? Is it material things that we fall in love with: houses, cars, toys, shoes… and how they make us feel?

Or is it that feeling when you give it your all? You help at the food bank, you volunteer at school, you help your community, you help someone in trouble… Is love a feeling of satisfaction? You give your time and effort and feel appreciated… Is that love?

Or is it that all encompassing feeling when you know everything is right in your world, when everything is going right and everyone and everything is where they need to be? Is that love?

Is it the pitter patter of little feet you hear around your house? Is it the joy of watching your children grow and succeed and knowing you helped? Is it your own success, your accomplishments, is it loving yourself?

Or is it just a simple question being overthought? Is love what you make it???
