The Newsy Neighbour
January Issue #111

I was recently sitting and looking back over
2016. What a year for most of us! So much has changed and there is so much to
be grateful for. It has been a challenging year for me and my family and I am
sure you have had some difficult moments in your life, too! In March, we
decided to sell our home; after many house showings, it sold at the end of
August, final sale in September and then onto a new house purchase in a different
part of town. Packing and unpacking had the usual challenges, plus moving my
business from one house to another! We also helped my daughter move to Calgary,
which meant more adjustments for us all.
As a Massage Therapist and Spiritual
Life Teacher/Guide, there were things I had to do to stay sane, healthy,
relaxed, and grateful during that time. I want to share them in the hope they
will help you too:
1. Get the right amount of sleep.
Without it, I was “not always here," as they said. I had a hard time
concentrating, remembering things (places and names) and I found myself
sometimes even being angry and not really knowing why.
2. Take vitamins and minerals on a
regular basis. Here are some of the important ones for me: Daily Complete
(liquid vitamins and minerals), Vitamin D, Vitamin C, calcium, magnesium,
Omega- 3's, probiotics, antioxidants, prebiotics and digestive enzymes, evening
primrose, odourless garlic, female balance, liver support, and many more that
are suited for me. Plus, I did a regular cleanse every 3 months.
3. Be organized and asking for help. As
a busy mother, wife, home owner, and business woman, I found organization and
learning to ask for help in my personal and professional life was essential in order
to get things done. With a routine in place and an organized system for the
packing, move, and all the details this life transition entailed, I was less
worried and stressed. I also learnt how important a support team is. Look at
what services you need and then put the right people in place. Ask family and
friends for help and make sure you are there for them, too.
4. If you suffer from a chronic
condition such as fibromyalgia and constant pain, practice self-care. I see an
acupuncturist once a month, chiropractor as needed, have a physical once a
year, dentist twice a year, massage therapist as needed, reflexology once or
twice a month, and for me the most important, energy healing once or twice a
month.
5. Spend time with family and friends on
a regular basis. This was one of the most significant things I did this year. This
was among the New Year’s promises I made at the beginning of 2016 and I certainly
benefited from it! Spend some time with your family and friends, have some fun,
try new things and enjoy making new memories; life is short!
There were a lot of other little things
that helped me stay healthy, strong, vibrant, confidant and overall a happy
person throughout 2016; you just need to find what is right for you.
I am so grateful for my family, friends,
team workers, and wonderful clients. Wishing you all a magical, healthy, happy,
successful and prosperous 2017and may all your wishes and dreams come true. Nothing
is impossible and everything is possible!
