1. QUALITY
TIME
Destination weddings provide 3-7 days in a
relaxed, vacation atmosphere with lots of time to visit with family and friends,
whereas a traditional wedding only gives you approximately 6 hours to meet and
greet your guests.
2. ECONOMICAL
Destination weddings average 50 guests and cost
anywhere from $0 (free) to $5000 for a resort package (which includes the
venue, reception, flowers, photography, beverages, decorations, cake, and much
more). Traditional weddings average 100 guests and cost anywhere from $25,000
to $100,000.
3. STRESS FREE
Destination wedding resorts have on-site wedding
co-ordinators that ensure everything is organized and that your wedding runs
smoothly – you just have to sit back and enjoy yourself! Traditional weddings require
you to keep things organized so that your wedding goes off without a hitch – or
you hire a wedding planner, which increases the costs.
4. LOCATION
Get married in a unique or exotic location! Think
of the incredible week-long photo ops! Traditional weddings tend to have
limited or similar looking venues and photos. Do you want your wedding to look
and feel like everyone else’s?
5. YOUR WEDDING,
YOUR WAY
Families can have expectations on how you plan and
have your wedding. Traditional weddings allow them to project their ideas.
Destination weddings allow YOU to have your wedding exactly how you want it to
be and everyone will be happy because the unique location prevents traditional
thinking.
6. SECOND
WEDDINGS
Destination weddings are the perfect setting for
blending families together and provide neutral ground for everyone to meet. The
relaxed vacation atmosphere and extended time period allows everyone to get to
know each other.
7. ALL GUESTS
ARE VIP
Traditional weddings make you feel you need to
invite everyone you know but perhaps the guest list has to be limited. Who do
you remove from the list, as you know that there will be hurt feelings? Destination
wedding guests decide for themselves whether they can attend or not. It also
allows you to only invite close friends and family, keeping the guest list
manageable.
8. NO FAMILY
FEUDS, NO DRAMA
Do you have family members that don’t get along?
Or perhaps family members that create drama? Destination weddings limit the
feuding and drama by creating the vacation atmosphere. Resorts are large and
have many different areas to enjoy the beach or the pool. You can even request
that the guest rooms are farther apart.
9. HONEYMOON
EARLY
Your wedding week feels like the start of your
honeymoon! You can even stay in a separate section of the resort to create a
private experience. Reduce the cost of a honeymoon by extending your stay for
an extra week for intimate celebrations. Switch to a new resort to create a
separate honeymoon feeling.
10. GUYS LIKE IT TOO!
Many grooms find the details of planning a
traditional wedding overwhelming or boring – much to the bride’s dismay.
However, with a destination wedding, most grooms love to help! Which
destination should we get married in? Should we have the ceremony on the beach
or at the gazebo? Beach or poolside reception? Do you want to have a beach
party bash? They love to get involved!
