Hi everyone, thank you all for coming tonight. I wanted to say a little something tonight but every time I wrote it, it always sounded like a pitch. So I scrapped the whole thing and re-wrote it. The Newsy Neighbour is the largest magazine of its kind. We have multiple ad sizes to meet your needs. Just call me…. Hahaha

Anyways, my name is Denise Geremia and I am in charge of advertising at The Newsy Neighbour Magazine. Also, I want to be very clear that I am DENISE. Not Aleesha. People are continuously getting us mixed up. I am the good looking blonde one. 

Many of the people in the audience tonight are advertisers with The Newsy Neighbour. We wanted to thank you for your support of our magazine. It’s because of you that we get up every morning and do what we do. The Magazine is getting bigger and better every month. We get to do something we LOVE, which is put this magazine out for homes and businesses in Chestermere, Langdon, Strathmore and surrounding areas every month. 

It’s because of you we do the Get to Know Your Neighbour Festival in downtown Strathmore every June. This year marks our 3^rd year, and every year we seem to get bigger and better. 

It’s because of you we get to do these awards. You as a business work hard throughout the year every year, and these awards are how we can not only showcase you, but make sure our 46,000 readership sees you succeed as well. 

It’s because of you we got to start our own free soccer program in Strathmore. The first year of Munchkins Soccer, we had 65 kids. Last year, we had 155. This year will be even bigger and better, and an amazing way we can get kids involved in extra curricular sports from ages 3-6 for free. 

Throughout the last few years, we’ve continuously changed the business plan for The Newsy Neighbour Magazine. We went from our whole purpose being putting out a great read every month, to working every month to make a difference. We changed. Once we changed, once we changed the face of the magazine, once we stepped outside the box and brought our passion for the magazine and helping people, the Newsy Neighbour Magazine took on a new life. And it’s why we can do what we do for all of you.

Just because you start a business, it doesn’t mean people will support you. For us, we know print advertising is expensive but integral to the survival of any business. So anyone who is willing to give us their hard-earned advertising dollars, we want to do everything we can to give them the same support from our readers that they gave to us. We are passionate about supporting local businesses because it’s the local businesses who are keeping the magazine going every single month. And what better way to thank them than by getting them more business?
