Kids Kooking Korner: October Smoothie

This month’s recipe is a great way to inject some healthy ingredients into your child’s system without the battle it normally is!

Not many children will eat turmeric willingly, so smoothies are a great vehicle to do so. A blender or bullet are both acceptable in making this smoothie. What you will need:

Blender
Frozen or fresh fruit
Coconut oil
Hemp seeds
Ground flax
Honey
Cinnamon
Ginger
Turmeric
Pepper (helps in the absorption of turmeric)
Water

Place all ingredients in the blender with the coconut oil in the middle. This will help it not to stick to the blades. Grind a small amount of pepper over the top. Some frozen fruit can be sour so use about 2 tbsp of honey to give it a nice sweetness your child will find appealing. Blend away! Serve with a straw. All these ingredients are superfoods and, combined, will give your child a much-needed boost for the day and help you feel confident you have provided nutrients to your child.

Happy blending!
Stay calm and blend on!
