We are currently living in one of the most exciting and disturbing times in history. The information age that we are witnessing is one that will forever be remembered. A history lesson being written for our future generations. Not only are we able to communicate instantly, we are now able to communicate with the entire world.

With the platforms that social media and the internet provide we can witness and participate in the best and worst that this world has to offer. These medias can be use to uplift humanity, share the most worthy causes, educate the ignorant, and sway the way nations think, believe and act. This same power is easily and often abused. These powerful formats can also be used to further ignorant belief systems, to market fear and propaganda, to be needlessly inflammatory and to turn the lowest common denominator into celebrity. We have born witness to much of that in recent times. The best and the worst of humanity is swiped or scrolled through every day.

Here in Canada, and many other developed nations, we are so advanced in our blessings that the majority of us have access to the things that we need. Food, water, shelter, clothing, health care are available to almost everyone that live in Canada. It is because of this safety that we are able as a nation and individuals to rise up, and begin to shift into higher consciousness, to speak and influence issues that may not be related to survival, but yet are massively important. Wound between (and sometimes hidden in) the funny memes and cute cat videos are ideas about the world. I speak of issues like gender and race equality, politics, social issues like body shaming and mental illness and so many many more.

What we say, do and act like in our lives impacts our own life and those around us. What we say, do and act like on social media and the internet will impact the world in much the same way. What we choose to stay silent upon is telling as well.

What is it that you think about? What is it that you react to? There are so many topics that have such value and merit to be spoken about, defended, brought to the light...

I am not here to tell you what to think about any one of them.

What do I want to say about this then? I am here to call you to think right.

The aspect of our mind that stays in fear, anger, judgement and denial is related closely to our ego. Now ego plays an important role in defining our sense of self, but it also (falsely) strives to play a role in what we perceive as truth and untruth – and this is where strife between parties can be seen. When it comes to elevating consciousness (beginning with our own self first, of course) it is essential to recognize this “ego voice” within ourselves and others. When we are aware of the ego and strive to be mindful in how we both perceive and communicate with the world, we elevate our ability to communicate in any situation.

Every enlightened being, every holy writing, and so many historical figures that are worthy of our admiration have all had the same message for the world: Place your heart upon the highest possible call-to-action that has ever been placed upon humanity, that of unconditional love, and strive to live that in every part of your life. If every interaction we had, including those on social media platforms, was done in this energy we would transform the way media works. It would transform the world.

Understand the power of our individual influence upon the tides of social media. What we post, like, comment and ignore are contributing to a greater current. If a greater portion of the population strive to learn and live two things: learning to observe and discern while recognizing our ego's pull on our senses and also to try to make every act one of unconditional love – we will wrest the tide to the good.

Because of the nature of humanity there will always be debate, disagreement, misunderstanding and dissent. This we know. We are bound to make mistakes. But in this defining time, we (and I speak of every one that yearns for a future of peace, equality, and well-being) have the opportunity to shift into the higher vibration, by striving to think right and with love across every platform in our lives.
