I know many
children would love to cook with their dad, so in this month’s Father’s Day
Issue in the Kooking Korner, we have an old favourite and certainly a recipe a
kid can whip up with their father! The classic Grilled Cheese creation is
something a Dad and child will enjoy doing together and will not be too
difficult.
If the
child is over 11, they could do this on their own! Of course, a mom and child
could make this for their dad on Father’s day, and believe me, he will find it
to be salty, gooey, crisp, buttery, and comforting in all the right ways.
What you
will need for two sandwiches:
Four slices
of your favourite bread (any bread works)
Cheese
slices
Soft butter
or margarine
Large
frying pan
Butter
knife
Lay the
bread out on a breadboard or on the counter. Spread the butter on one side of
the bread only.
Place the
bread, butter-side-down onto skillet bottom and add 1 slice of cheese. Cook
your sandwiches at medium-low heat for 2-3 minutes, or until the bread is
toasty golden and the cheese has melted. The second side will cook faster than
the first, so watch carefully.
My husband
suggested a third flip for even browning while cooking with our son Alex.
Remove the grilled cheese from the pan and place it on cutting board, slicing
it diagonally for a nice look and an easy first bite!
Enjoy it
plain, or squeeze ketchup into a mini bowl for dipping. Kooking Korner wishes
all dads a great Father’s Day!
Keep calm
and kook on!
